Melanie is the driving force behind Silence to Song. As the founder and creative mind, she has shaped the project’s mission and direction, ensuring that the stories of those affected by the infected blood scandal are given a powerful and lasting voice. Melanie was infected as a child with Hepatitis C through a blood product to treat her von willebrand disease.
Melanie is part of the Production team and enjoys being part of the choir. For her it is an escape from many years of campaigning, a safe and enjoyable place, where she feels able to connect to others with similar life experiences.
Melanie enjoys Song writing and hopes in the future to record one with Silence to Song choir.
Her hope for the choir is for it to grow and for those that continue to struggle within the community to be able to connect through music and friendship.
Melanie is married to Martin, between them they have five children and two grandchildren. Martin is a great support and sings in the choir. Their son Charlie is part of the media production team, working closely with members of the choir.
Dan was infected with Hepatitis C, as a child, through blood products to treat his haemophilia. This profound personal experience fuels his deep commitment to the community. He sees music as more than just a craft, for Dan music is a therapy.
Dan is a skilled musician who plays several instruments, possesses a great voice and excels as a songwriter and producer.

A dedicated family man, happily married with children, Dan channels his vibrant energy into all his creative pursuits.
Highly regarded and very likeable, Dan is a huge asset to both the production team and the choir members of "Silence to Song," consistently delivering excellence in his work. .
Jack Marchant is a dedicated music producer and a true asset to our team. With his unwavering commitment, he's worked tirelessly to perfect our choir songs, bringing them to life with his skill and passion. Beyond his professional expertise, Jack is a devoted family man who understands the power of music to heal and connect, having experienced the loss of his mother as a teenager. A genuinely nice bloke, he's an invaluable member of our community.
Rosemary has had a love of music and singing since childhood, she spent many years as a member of a ladies barbershop chorus and quartet, where she was also a section leader, public relations officer and for some time, assistant musical director. As part of the chorus she took part in many public performances and competitions and also produced several shows.
She currently enjoys playing ukulele and singing with a local group, playing hits from the past and entertaining various community groups.
She is a firm believer in the healing power of music, and the togetherness that comes from communal singing, and feels very privileged to be able to play a part in this very special choir.
Rosemary lost her son Nicky when he was 25, as a result of his Haemophilia treatment with contaminated blood products. She also runs a support group for bereaved parents from the infected blood community.
Ade is a former pupil of Treloars school, where he tragically became a victim of infected blood. Having lost two brothers one to Hepatitis C and the other to HIV Ade possesses a profound understanding of the experiences of both the infected and the affected within the Infected Blood community.
Ade is well known for his staunch determination and tireless campaigning.
What truly sets him apart, however, is his incredible spirit. Despite the profound traumas he has faced, Ade maintains a great sense of humour and consistently sees his glass as half full.
Ade has always had a deep passion for music, after leaving school, he supported many well known bands.
He finds great joy in being part of the choir, seeing it as a great escape from campaigning and an opportunity to connect with others who share similar traumatic experiences.
Ade is a highly valued asset to the production team, always ready to offer support where it is needed.
In the near future, we look forward to the choir performing one of the several powerful songs Ade has written regarding the Infected Blood tragedy.

Darren was a professional singer but left performing to work alongside his dad and his brother in the family business.
In 1999, his brother, Nicky, who was a haemophiliac had contracted both HIV and Hepatitis C from infected blood products and passed away, this loss shook his family to the core.
Being involved with the. “Silence To Song” choir, surrounded by people who have experienced similar loss & understand his pain, has helped him to rediscover his love for music and singing.
He believes that music is more than entertainment, t’s a lifeline for those who need hope and community and in every note he sings and every song he writes, he shows how music can help those who have faced darkness, emerge with a renewed voice.
He says,
“If only one person finds comfort in our songs or in being part of the choir, then we’ve done the job we set out to do.”
Ray Coate's unwavering support makes him an invaluable asset to the community. After enduring a period of profound trauma and voicelessness, which was also a result of a serious illness, he now dedicates his time to amplifying the voices of victims from all walks of life.
Ray has hosted several podcasts featuring testimonials from community members. He is also a singer-songwriter.
